For me this was probably the best moment in sports because no one expected them to get out of the first round. By the time they got to the finals it seemed that years went by. The first championship was the best. Lets face it they where all good but nothing was as magical as that first Stanley Cup.
The way they completely shut down a seemingly invincible Detroit Red Wings team will something that will always be remembered.

I have to admit I actually had tear in my eyes when they won the cup and seeing Daneyko carrying the cup around. It was the first championship any team that I route for had won since 86. I will always remember where i was when i watched them win. |

Devils 1995 Stanley Cup ChampionshipI was only 10 years old but I remember it well. Not as well as I remember the playoff series with the Rangers the year before though, unfortunately. That was a classic series and the Devils dominance against Detroit in the finals really helped me forget all about Matteau and Messier and the damn Rangers winning the year before. It was extra special for me too because the Devils were the first team I rooted for to win a championship in my lifetime....good memories... |
